From the Executive Director: Local Government Academy is Soaring to Success!

Local Government Academy is soaring to success!

The 30th Anniversary of our Municipal Intern Program is mid-flight, our Annual Promoting Excellence Golf Outing is now boarding, and the Newly Elected Officials Course is preparing for takeoff!

The Municipal Intern Program has taken to the skies and has hit cruising altitude. As the interns continue their important work for their municipality/COG’s we sat down with Brandon Mendoza who spoke about his time as an intern for the City of Aliquippa and how that shaped his career path. We also feature a flight log of the first Development Day hosted by Gateway Engineers.

The gate agents are making the final call for all boarding passengers for our Annual Promoting Excellence Golf Outing! Registration is almost sold out, so please find your seats for this excellent cause. Our golf outing is held to raise money for the Michael Lynch Scholarship Fund, to ensure the Academy has the resources needed to provide non-partisan education to public officials and staff, regardless of ability to pay.

Our Newly Elected Officials Course (NEOC) is preparing for takeoff on December 6th! We spoke with Borough of Homestead Mayor John Burwell (NEOC Class of 2022) about his experiences in the most comprehensive training program for local government officials. Check out his spotlight later in the newsletter. Registration opens in November, prepare to book your flight!
