From the Executive Director: Growing Strong Communities

Like a garden in midsummer, strong communities don’t flourish by accident. They grow through investment, collaboration, and dedicated leadership. At Local Government Academy, we’re fortunate to see that growth firsthand.

This month, we celebrated several successful events in the Municipal Intern Program, where talented students partnered with municipalities across the region to tackle meaningful projects while gaining firsthand experience in local government. Their creativity, enthusiasm, and fresh perspectives are helping build the next generation of public servants while providing lasting value to the communities they serve.

Moreover, we’re proud to highlight Local Government Academy’s featured role in a recent PublicSource article exploring how local governments are navigating the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence. Read how our work is helping municipal leaders build the knowledge and confidence to use AI effectively and responsibly.

As we look ahead, we’re also preparing for one of our favorite traditions: the Promoting Excellence in Local Government Golf Outing on Monday, August 17. The outing brings together municipal leaders, partners, sponsors, and supporters for a day of networking and friendly competition, all while raising funds for the Michael Lynch Scholarship Fund and supporting Local Government Academy’s mission.

Thank you for continuing to invest in local government education and leadership. We hope you enjoy this month’s updates, and we look forward to seeing many of you on the course in August!

~Joy
