They say that golfers are passionate about their sport, and the 2020 Promoting Excellence Golf Outing to support Local Government Academy certainly demonstrated that commitment. Our signature effort to ensure educational programming and training is within reach of all communities, this “Spring” tradition pivoted with the Pandemic, occurring instead on Thursday, August 27, at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. The tradition of the Hodgepodge Scramble continued for great Team Prizes, Skill Prizes, and good fun.

Also unchanging is the desire to support professional, non-partisan development for local government officials and municipal staff. New this year, the Golf Committee debuted the Promoting Excellence Putting Contest with proceeds supporting the Michael P. Lynch Scholarship Fund, named in honor of the Academy’s first Chairman of the Board and former Mayor of Monroeville. The Fund reduces the financial burden to attend educational programs such as the Newly Elected Official Course.

The 2020 Promoting Excellence Golf Outing was certainly one for the records, and Local Government Academy thanks the Golf Committee members who strived to make this year the best ever!
